Inspiring Families is a Cheltenham Borough Council run partnership that works to improve the well-being of families in Cheltenham by supporting them with their physical, nutritional and mental health.
We build trusting relationships with families and work with them to help them achieve their well-being goals for the future. We offer this through consistent 1:1 support, relaxed social groups and by connecting families with information, people and resources to help them with their specific needs.
We also offer a range of activities, schemes and training courses to help families build their resilience and create opportunities for them to make more positive life choices.
We support families, in partnership with other organisations, to reduce children’s exposure to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), as well as support those children and adults who have been previously exposed to ACEs.
We work in a way that encourages partnership and equal collaboration. We take the time to listen, understand and respond to families, making sure that our support is based on their strengths and conducted in a way that is bespoke to their needs.
‘‘Our place’’ groups are regular (weekly or fortnightly) coffee mornings for parents and carers in various places around Cheltenham.
This offers parents and carers the ability to meet new people in their community, have fun and relax in a place where they can share experiences and support one another.
Through the group, we also offer more consistent 1:1 support for those that need it. This will be done by connecting families with information, people and resources to help them with their specific needs.
You are welcome to come along for a cup of coffee, a chat and activities. It’s a way to meet new people who will welcome you in and support you.
Sessions run during term time, and are open to all parents and carers on a drop-in basis. Find your closest ‘’Our Place’’ group below:

Inspiring Families has worked closely with other local providers such as Cheltenham Borough Homes, Family Space, Move More, SPTM Big Local, Gardners Lane and Oakwood Federation and Springbank Community and Resource Centre to ensure local children are remaining active, and eating healthy food, throughout the summer holidays.
This is a fully accredited course, designed to give you the confidence and knowledge needed to support other parents in Cheltenham.
The training course is free, although you need to be committed to volunteering as a peer mentor in Cheltenham when you have completed the course.
We are able to provide opportunities and support for you to volunteer as a peer mentor or peer leader, in our ‘Our Place’ peer support groups for parents and carers in Cheltenham, when you have completed the course.
The scheme is available at the end of each half term and at Easter. During the summer holidays we offer deliveries direct to families in Cheltenham each fortnight.
Each bag contains a large selection of fruit and veg, as well as some recipe cards and an activity for the children. There is no added cost for the delivery.
If your children usually receive free school meals and you would like to request a vegetable box for any future holidays, get in touch with us.
We provide a range of local schools with children’s books, which are to be made available for families to take home for free.
We welcome donations of children’s books for the scheme.

We support families to connect with someone they can trust who works in a way that focuses on their hopes and strengths. This is usually someone who they have had a good experience of working with in the past.
- We work based on the hopes you have for your family
- We start from a positive and equal relationship
- We work with you to find a ‘trusted individual’ who can be your support contact for moving forward
- The time you spend with your ‘trusted individual’ will always have a clear purpose and realistic expectations
- There is not a lot of paperwork involved and it’s easy to get referred
