ABOUT US:
Inspiring Families is a Cheltenham Borough Council run partnership that works to improve the well-being of families in Cheltenham by supporting them with their physical, social and mental health.
We build trusting relationships with families and work with them to help them achieve their well-being goals for the future. We offer this through relaxed social groups, consistent 1:1 support and by connecting families with information, people and resources to help them with their specific needs.
We also offer a range of activities, schemes and training courses to help families build their resilience and create opportunities for them to make more positive life choices.
GROUPS:
”Our Place” groups are regular coffee mornings for parents and carers across Cheltenham.
This offers parents and carers the ability to meet new people and relax in a place where they can be share experiences and support one another.
We often work with partners to deliver well-being, craft and mindfulness activities within these sessions.
You are welcome to come along for a cup of coffee, a chat and activities. It’s a way to meet new people who will welcome you in and support you.
Sessions run during term time and are open to all parents are carers on a drop-in basis. Find your closest group below:
Come along to ‘Our Place’ at Springbank Community Cafe, GL51 0LH, Ron Smith Pavilion, every Friday 9:30-11am (Term Time only).
Come along to ‘Our Place’ at St Paul’s Community Hub, Manser Street, GL50 4HG, every Thursday 9:30-11am (Term Time only).
1-2-1 SUPPORT
We offer a totally free support service for those families who:
- Need support and guidance in achieving their individual well-being goals.
- Need support and guidance to access other local support services.
A member of our team will check in with you regularly and guide you through the steps you should take to achieve your goals.
Goals relating to physical health, lifestyle and general mental health will be led by us here at Inspiring Families. For other needs such as education, finances, parenting, cooking, business support, specific mental health queries and housing we will help you find the right support for you through our fantastic partners and other community initiatives!
If you need support in achieving a positive, healthy lifestyle, do not hesitate to get in touch with us and we will do everything we can to support you!
Please note we will review each case independently to decide whether your situation meets our criteria for the 1-2-1 support service. In the unfortunate situation where you don’t meet our criteria, we will do our best to suggest alternative options where you may be able to get the support you need.
Other Community work:
Inspiring Families has worked closely with other local providers such as Cheltenham Borough Homes, Family Space, Move More, SPTM Big Local, Gardners Lane and Oakwood Federation and Springbank Community and Resource Centre to ensure local children are remaining active, and eating healthy food, throughout the summer holidays.
This is a fully accredited course, designed to give you the confidence and knowledge needed to support other parents in Cheltenham.
The training course is free, although you need to be committed to volunteering as a peer mentor in Cheltenham when you have completed the course.
We are able to provide opportunities and support for you to volunteer as a peer mentor or peer leader, in our ‘Our Place’ peer support groups for parents and carers in Cheltenham, when you have completed the course.
The scheme is available at the end of each half term and at Easter. During the summer holidays we offer deliveries direct to families in Cheltenham each fortnight.
Each bag contains a large selection of fruit and veg, as well as some recipe cards and an activity for the children. There is no added cost for the delivery.
If your children usually receive free school meals and you would like to request a vegetable box for any future holidays, get in touch with us.
We provide a range of local schools with children’s books, which are to be made available for families to take home for free.
We welcome donations of children’s books for the scheme.
