The #ConfidentGirls category recognises projects and organisations that help Cheltenham girls with their unique challenges, such as period poverty, self-esteem, confidence and ambitious aspirations.
Rock Young Leadership
The Rock young leadership project works with young people aged 12+ to encourage their self-confidence and leadership skills. Young leaders, two thirds of whom were girls, develop take on the responsibility of leading younger participants, planing activities and are encouraged to share their own relevant experiences.
The Rock welcome children who are experiencing challenging social circumstances and give them opportunities to play, socialise and learn essential life skills. Run by volunteers, their services range from tailored alternative education provision to fun activities such as archery and cooking skills. As well as being celebrated in this category for their Young Leadership programme, the organisation as a whole is recognised for the work they do with both boys and girls in the community.
The Music Works
The Music Works (TMW) transforms young lives through music. Their vision is for all children and young people in Gloucestershire– particularly those facing barriers in music, learning and life – to be able to realise their potential through music, and improve their life chances through creativity, building confidence, self-belief and motivation.
