What's happening this Summer?

A partnership of local organisations has come together to bring Cheltenham the most complete summer offer ever!

Keep an eye out for our exciting range of activities, suitable for both primary and secondary age children.

The Summer of Play will include a mix of free activities, paid for activities and activities through the Holiday Activity and Food Scheme.

Please note updates will be made to this page throughout the Summer so keep an eye out for new activities!

What's happening in your area?

MoveMore

MoveMore Camps are FUN and EXCITING for everyone and focus on children being physically active, making new friends and learning new skills. Children get to choose which activities they would like delivered throughout the day, some of the favourites include dodgeball, ultimate frisbee and tagging games.  There is also the option for arts and crafts and board games.

Camps available at Balcarras School, Charlton Kings Infants School and Bishops Cleeve Primary Academy this Summer! (£25-£27 per day).

St Peters and the Moors- Big Local

SPTM are partnering up with Goals Beyond Grass to bring Multi sports, Ability Bikes and Crafting to Cheltenham Saracens FC on Wednesday 3rd/ 10th/17th/24th August!

Cheltenham Borough Homes

CBH is partnering up with Cheltenham Town FC Community Trust to bring FREE football sessions to Cheltenham Saracens FC and Clyde Crescent!  

Book below, available for 8-13yrs! 

Cheltenham Town FC- Community Trust

CTFC are delivering football camps at St James’ Primary School across the Summer!

Both mixed and girls only sessions are available to book below! 

Tatty Bumpkin Yoga

Parents/carers and children join the yoga adventures of Baby Bumpkin (0-2yrs) with a circle-led session on our provided mats (babies lying on their blankets, parents/carers engaging directly with them) of gentle stretching, movement and sensory activities set to soothing story-telling and calming music. 

No previous yoga experience is required and we end each session with a relaxation practice that leaves a feeling of calm and clarity (everyone’s favourite bit!).

Available at various locations across Cheltenham!

Sandford Parks Lido

The Lido has a range of swimming sessions and fitness classes available to book below!

On Friday 19th August the lido will also be hosting The Alfresco Film Company and showing Ghostbusters: Afterlife in a fantastic pool side cinema experience!

Cheltenham Animal Shelter

Animal Experience sessions are available to book below!  These are a unique opportunity for young people (aged 5-15yrs) to attend the shelter during the school holidays to meet our animals and learn about responsible pet ownership in a fun, relaxed environment!

Chi Wai Martial Arts

Chi Wai is a local, family run martial arts organisation who have a passion for helping people of all ages develop their fitness, confidence and their ability to defend to themselves!

All abilities welcome!  First session is FREE!

Barking Buds

The Youth Trainer Programme has been created for children aged 9+ who want to learn how to train dogs and gain experience in the dog training world. It is a fun, interactive programme where the children learn:

  • Dog training knowledge 
  • Dog Knowledge
  • Gain experience with different breeds
  • Personal Development 

And so much more!

There is nothing like this programme in the UK and we are excited to be welcoming children into the world of training and potentially becoming the dog trainers of the future!

Classes are held on:

Tuesdays 5-6pm, Friday 5-6pm and 6-7pm

Steps Ahead- Aspire Foundation

The Steps Ahead project aims to reduce the impact and consequences of lockdown on babies and toddlers born between March 2020 and March 2022 and their families/carers. 

Services include focused programmes and tailored group and individual support for families who have been impacted by the COVID – 19 pandemic.

Steps Ahead are also running a FREE, OPEN ACCESS activity days at Oakwood Childrens Centre on August 8th.

Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation

GCF are offering FREE All Stars and Dynamos cricket programmes
in Cheltenham!  

All Stars Cricket:

  • Aimed at 5- to 8-year-olds.
  • On signup, child will receive a bat, ball, rucksack, and personalised T-Shirt to their home address.

Dynamos Cricket:

  • Aimed at 9- to 11-year-olds.
  • On signup, child will receive a personalised T-Shirt to their home address.

Cheltenham Sessions are held at Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre, August 15th/16th!

Simone Hopkins & Sons Martial Arts Academy

This family run martial arts academy are driven to help people of all ages and abilities improve their physical and mental health through martial arts!  Sessions are delivered by multiple world champion coaches!

Cheltenham sessions are held Brizen Young Peoples Centre, Up Hatherley Way.

Youth Support Team- Prospects

FREE fun activities, safe spaces and lunch available during the Summer at Whaddon YST Centre, GL52 5QW!  11-3, Wednesday 3rd, 17th and 31st August!

 Breakfast packs and healthy meal deliveries on Tuesday 2nd, 16th and 30th August!
