Support Cheltenham’s Cyber Future – Cheltenham Borough Homes

Cheltenham Borough Homes (CBH) have recently partnered with Code Ninjas Cheltenham to provide free coding sessions for children in our communities who come from families on lower incomes. These sessions cost £80 per month which is cost prohibitive for many of our families. To provide these free places we secured funding from the Build Back Better Youth Fund and we ran a coding club at Oakley Resource Centre from January – March. The club was extremely popular! With ages ranging from 7 – 14 years of children from a variety of backgrounds and being inclusive of neurodiverse children, the club was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We asked parents to complete a small feedback form about the club; everyone who responded agreed it helped their children to improve social confidence, learn new skills and make new friends.

We are luckily able to run a second club for new members from April – June.

For a longer term vision we are looking for funding for the children to be able to attend the regular Code Ninjas sessions at Gloucestershire College and carry on building on their new coding skills. With Cheltenham’s new up and coming golden valley development we hope to inspire these children into future cyber career pathways. Joining a club like this to learn these skills, is a great way to start them on that journey.  We are looking for companies to sponsor places to enable children from low income families to participate. This will be a brilliant opportunity for your company to deliver on your Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. Do you think that your company can help us?

“By learning to code, kids develop the skills to adapt to new technologies, persevere through challenges, and create innovative solutions to real-world problems. This empowers them to tackle the complex challenges of the future and create a better world for all.”

“Through coding, problem-solving, and creativity, children develop the superpower to shape the future and become the architects of innovation.” Code Ninjas: Empowering Tomorrow’s Innovators with Fun Coding for Kids – Our Vision
