Creative Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR) Improves Emotional Wellbeing for Cheltenham Children

Every Cloud Play & Creative Arts Therapy CIC has teamed up with local business Recycle IT 4 Free to create a really unique and creative way to help the business sector meet their corporate social responsibility targets through The Silver Lining CSR Programme.

When businesses use Recycle IT 4 Free’s data destruction and IT asset disposal services, 50% of the wholesale value of their redundant IT is donated to Every Cloud’s subsidised session fund. These donations are then used to subsidise children and young people’s therapy sessions enabling them to have access to more therapeutic support than might otherwise have been possible.

Every Cloud’s team, now in their third consecutive year of being NCLB Award Winners, are BAPT accredited, qualified play & creative arts therapists, who use a variety of expressive techniques to alleviate chronic, mild and moderate psychological and emotional conditions in children that are causing behavioural problems and/or preventing children from realising their potential. Play & creative arts therapy offers a developmentally appropriate alternative to talking therapy.

Every Cloud’s therapists work in an integrative, holistic way using non-directive play & creative arts therapy as a developmentally appropriate form of person centred therapy. This allows the child or young person to choose from the media in the room and explore themes that are most pertinent to them.  Play is a child’s natural medium for self-expression and is essential for development. Expression in this way removes the necessity for putting into words the complexity of their difficulties: as often this isn’t possible or is too painful.  Play & creative arts therapy gives the child or young person an opportunity to play out their feelings and problems within a safe environment, enabling them to work through their difficulties and improve their emotional wellbeing.

Recent donations through the Silver Lining CSR Programme have been able to support children and young people with partly, or in some cases fully funded therapeutic interventions. Some children who were anxious that they wouldn’t have enough sessions to fully process their early trauma have been able to have extra sessions and this has relieved their worry immensely. Other young people have also been able to access reduced cost sessions for emotional support following experiences such as school based anxiety, bereavement, conflict trauma or coping with the impact of a sibling or parent’s illness or disability.

Some children receive funding for therapy through statutory services like Adoption Support, Social Care or through Education Health and Care Plans. Some families can privately fund their child’s therapy, but for many children, access to individual therapy is either non-existent or very limited and often not enough sessions to facilitate proper recovery from trauma or adversity. If your child would benefit from play & creative arts therapy, and to see if the subsidised session fund could reduce a financial barrier for your family contact admin@everycloudtherapy.org.uk

The Silver Lining CSR programme aims reduce the financial burden for local families so that more children and young people can access the therapeutic support they need and fully access the wider opportunities that a childhood in Cheltenham can offer.
